A few weeks ago, I wrote an article here on PodJam called How to Get Your Creative Juices Flowing Again. It got me thinking a lot about how to boost our creativity when we’re going through a dry spell. Many people believe you have to wait for inspiration to strike, but I have a different point of view. In my experience, I’ve found that it’s better to work through it. Just the action of always moving forward is often times enough to jumpstart creativity.
Someone asked me today which three industries move the fastest and change the most in my opinion. My answer was tech, social media and marketing. From one day to the next, you never know what will change in those industries. Just leave Twitter for one week. When you come back, you’ll be shocked at all the new tech, social media and marketing news you missed.
Whether you are a blogger, a painter, a chef or a web designer, you are an artist. I believe everyone is an artist in one way or another; you just have to find your passion. Once you find it, you’ll be on a lifelong creative journey. But no matter how skilled you are at your craft, we all go through creative dry spells.
If you blog a lot like I do, you probably have a certain time of the day or night when you prefer to write. For me, it’s early in the morning. I get up very early, and that’s usually the time of day that I can be the most productive with my writing.
However, that’s not the time of day when I come up with my blogging topics. I usually get those ideas throughout the day at random times, and I write them down immediately. You probably have your own method to the madness that works well for you.
If you are a marketer or entrepreneur, you know how important brand awareness is. The whole idea behind creating a brand awareness strategy is that when your potential customers are ready to buy, they think of your product or service.
Some of the most popular companies that come to your mind right now have probably done an excellent job creating brand awareness. Some of those companies almost seem to have become successful overnight since suddenly everyone is familiar with them.
